I helped a friend register for her baby shower recently and found myself marveling at all the gadgets we put on the list. Even more surprising was listening to myself tell her why she desperately needed each and every thing. “The bouncy chair will be your best friend if you ever want your hands free to answer an email,” and ”in the middle of the night your back will be so happy you bought that nursing pillow.“ All of these things you never knew you needed before you had kids are suddenly indispensable.
I was reminded of how we all stock our “toolbox” with things that work for us in our own way. In fact, there was a man in the store carrying a small baby in a sling on his back, and I found myself thinking, “Wow. I didn’t know you could wear it like that. I wish I had known that when they were tiny.” Not that the sling never worked for me, on the contrary, I loved it. I just used it differently. All parents know what works for their family, and how certain items can make life a little easier.
And that’s how Carabean was born. After watching a friend struggle trying to hang her purse from her stroller with ill-fitting industrial clips, I wondered how I could help her make it work. If only the clips fit her stroller and linked on easily. I began hunting for larger, more useful clips, but I only found ones that were either too heavy or too small. I’ve been researching and developing ever since.
As a working mom with two kids and a diaper bag full of everything from wipes to coloring books, I’m always looking for ways to make our lives run more smoothly. I hope that Carabean will work for your family.
